A photo booth that turns people into stickers. A camera shows you cut out of the background, live, on a projector. Press the button: the screen flashes, the shutter clicks, and a moment later there is a transparent PNG of you with a clean white sticker outline, ready to print.
How it works
- Live preview. OBS removes the background in real time on the Mac’s Neural Engine, so you can frame yourself and see roughly what you will get.
- The capture. One key press triggers the flash and shutter, and grabs a raw camera frame over the OBS WebSocket API.
- The cut-out. That still frame goes through Apple’s subject-lift engine, the same one behind long-pressing a photo on an iPhone, for soft, accurate edges. A small Swift tool grows the silhouette into the white border and saves the sticker.
- Review. A local web page shows the newest shot, so you can keep it or take another.
The design choice
Apple’s subject lift only works on still images, not live video. So the booth splits the work: a cheap, fast matte for the live view, and the expensive, beautiful one only at the moment of capture.
